I just finished publishing my first book on Amazon. It is the first book for sale. I had published two other books before. One was a short fan-fiction story and one was a WordPress technical book, neither of which anyone read. My book was actually published on Lulu first before Amazon, but only because Amazon seemed daunting and the Lulu platform was easier for my brain to figure out. It turns out that Lulu is harder to get your book distributed to Amazon if you start there first because of book sizes and other details. The point is that Amazon is the only reading platform anyone cares about and my book is up there now.
The book is something I've been wanting to finish writing for years. I'm not sure why it worked, but one day I just decided to try publishing it like it was a real book. Well, now it is. The book is a bedtime story for parents that is writing in old king-james-ish English and is a sarcastically horror-flavored book. Basically, the images are scary and the poetry sounds dark but the actual story is supposed to be funny. It is meant to be something that parents can enjoy because it details the typical midnight war parents have with a child who won't go to bed. If you love or know any children in your life and have ever needed to guide or care for them, you'll know that the only thing that goes bump in the night is short, small, and cute.
